The 2008 AAU Old School Super Regional is one of the top amateur basketball tournaments in the nation. This year's event will be held in Conway, Arkansas and feature 8 of the top 17-and-Under AAU Boys Elite Travel Teams.
The summer's top-ranked Oklahoma Athletes First, with five of the most highly regarded players in the nation, heads the field that also includes Memphis YOMCA, the St. Louis Eagles, Charlotte Royals, Alabama Lasers, Tennessee Travelers and the hosts - Arkansas Wings Gold and Red.
Oklahoma's 6'10", 260 pound Daniel Orton is among the top-rated centers in the nation and 6'6" teammate Xavier Henry is among the top shooting guards. As if that wasn't enough talent, 6'6" Terrance Boyd and 6'7" OU-commitment Kyle Hardick will be taking the court with them. Then there's Memphis' 6'4" Leslie McDonald and St. Louis power forward, the 6'9" Tyler Griffey. And, Arkansas Wings Gold's 6'1" A.J. Walton, who has at least five big-time offers, including the University of Arkansas.
More than 250 college coaches are expected to show up and check out the talent for their 2009, 2010, and 2011 recruiting classes.
